Dalhousie – A Hill Station With More Than Just Views

Dalhousie, perched in Himachal Pradesh, is a hill station known for its misty valleys, winding trails, and historic charm. Visitors come not only for panoramic scenery. They come for vibrant local life. This includes cafés, street food stops, and eateries dotted around Gandhi Chowk, Mall Road, and Subhash Chowk. The town’s cool climate makes wandering from café to café delightful. It is especially enjoyable if you’re craving warm comfort foods. A relaxing break after sightseeing is equally satisfying.

Cho Cho’s Cafe – Veg Thenthuk to Warm the Soul

Our first stop was the charming Cho Cho’s Cafe near Mall Road. As soon as we stepped in, we encountered a cozy, inviting atmosphere. A friendly team was ready to share their favorite dishes. We asked for their “special” and got a steaming bowl of Veg Thenthuk. It is a traditional Tibetan noodle soup. This dish is made by hand-pulling and tossing flat dough into a rich vegetable broth. The fragrant steam rising from the bowl, colorful vegetables, and perfectly soft noodles made each spoonful a comforting mountain-home experience.

This dish was the perfect welcome to Dalhousie. It was warm, hearty, and full of flavor. This reminded us why local café culture here is rooted in comfort and hospitality.
